Torridon & Wester Ross is an area of incredible beauty and limitless possibilities for the landscape photographer. With rugged mountains, sweeping glens and beautiful lochs, there are a myriad of breathtaking views and no matter the weather, you’ll have beauty to enjoy
Wester Ross in the North West Highlands has, what I consider, to have some of the best locations in Scotland. It’s the combination of remoteness, distance from population centres and importantly, the character of the landscape. Diverse, angular mountains with deep glens and fjords run out to sea.
The Wester Ross region has some of the most beautiful and rugged scenery on any part of the Scottish Highlands, and its very remoteness means that it is relatively quiet and peaceful even at the height of the summer months. It is perfectly possible to spend an entire day walking without ever seeing another person on the hill beside you, and during that day you may be able to catch sight of eagles, deer, pine marten, dragonflies, and other rare animals and insects.

These workshops are very relaxed which I hope will leave you feeling fulfilled and rewarded.
Torridon & Wester Ross; these are areas of Scotland that have no equal anywhere else on this planet. Mountains, glens, lochs and stunning locations are all waiting to be discovered. Combined with my in-depth experience of the area and superb autumnal light, it can only be a recipe for photographic indulgence. Autumnal days add drama, beauty and tranquillity to this rugged and weathered landscape.

There are some properties that I struggle to put into words, the Farmhouse on the magical family-owned Coulin Estate is one of them. Tucked neatly between some of Scotland’s most notable Munros, this 4 bed property sits against a dramatic backdrop, guaranteed to take your breath away.
This cosy, country farmhouse boasts 4 beautiful bedrooms; two twins and two king-size, all with plush, comfortable bedding and custom made tweed headboards. There are 3 bathrooms in the property, all with large baths and showers in which to submerge yourself and unwind after a day roaming the hillsides.
The kitchen and dining area have a warm, welcoming, family feel and have everything that you, your family, or your chef, could require to cook a traditional Scottish feast! Keep a look out of the windows to see the estate’s two Highland ponies (Rum and Canna) freely roaming, or some wonderful red squirrels.
The main sitting room is unique and very snug with its natural wood panelling. Hand embroidered cushions adorn the furniture, arranged around a beautiful open wood burning fire. Board games for all the family are within easy reach in cupboards to either side.
The property is decorated with subtle, mellow Farrow & Ball tones, that provide a modern day twist to the traditional country farmhouse atmosphere. With sumptuous, cosy soft furnishings throughout and two wood burning fires, you can curl up, relax and warm your toes after exploring the beautiful surrounding Scottish landscape.
The house is situated directly next to Loch Coulin which also leads to Loch Clair, with level walks along the shorelines. You may bump into the occasional walker, but it’s more likely you will spot some of the local wildlife. The Estate is home to resident Golden Eagle, Otter and some incredibly rare Black Throated Divers to name just a few.
Peace and quiet are in serious supply here as the house is set well off the beaten track. You’ll need a substantial car or 4×4 to get to this property – adding to the feeling of having completely ‘escaped’. The owners welcome visitors to explore the available walks, lochs and hills, making this the perfect property for hill walkers, mountain bikers and families with four legged, tail wagging friends.
Complimentary transport around with ample room in the rear cab for all the photographic equipment.
