What Did You Enjoy About Your Workshop?: Dean put us in the right locations with the right weather and the right light. And he was there for the workshop participants. He wasn’t vlogging for YouTube, or worried about his own photo, he was there for the participants first and foremost. Not an ounce of ostentatiousness with Dean at all!
At each location, he touched on potential compositions, and then let each participant work off the suggestions. Then he bounced around amongst the participants evaluating compositions and artistic choices with filters, giving advice as he saw fit. It did not take Dean very long to understand his audience.
And I would hate to not mention that Dean was flexible with my travel requirements. Coming from the US, I did not want to rent a car to just have it sit unused. Dean offered to pick me up in multiple locations on his journey to Tarbert. And even took me back to Stornoway even though his ferry was at the south end of the island. Top notch even if he doesn’t like haggis!
What, If Anything, Would You suggest I Do To Improve the Workshop?: With small group workshops, Dean can take the pulse of the participants and understand what needs to be implemented. If we had needed post processing help, he offered it. He would have stayed out longer if we had wanted to. He offered advice as much as we needed in the field. He had options for every appetite! Overall, I felt it was well rounded from beginning to end! Locations were great! If I had to think of any one thing to suggest is to possibly mention bringing waterproof everything and spikes for your tripod.
What Further Comments Would You Like To Make About Your Workshop?: Great workshop! Enjoyed every minute despite the Scottish weather. After having been to Iceland and Patagonia before Covid, I let my guard down with the elements. The Scottish weather does not mess around!!! I’ll be ready for Torridon in 2025!
