Achmelvich Beach is a very special place to me and one of very favourite beaches in the Highlands. It was the first beach that I ever visited in the Highlands and for that it is a very special place to me.
However, it stands on it’s own as one of the best as well – it is very easy to spend a day there with a camera and that still wouldn’t be enough time.
During the early 1980’s I watched a film called “Local Hero” and Achmelvich reminds me so much of the locations used in that film. So please forgive me, just for a few moments I think of myself as Burt Lancaster strolling along this gorgeous stretch of sand trying to be business-like in purchasing the land for oil exploration, whilst all the time falling in love with the surroundings and minute by minute diminishing the thirst to make money by exploiting the beautiful surroundings.
Anytime of the day, any kind of weather conditions….there isn’t a bad time to visit Achmelvich.
