Achmelvich Beach is a very special place to me and one of my favourite beaches in the Highlands. It was the first beach I ever saw in the Northern Highlands and the feeling of absolute joy when I first saw it, will stay with me for the rest of my life. For that reason alone, it is special. Add to that, the complete raw natural beauty of the landscape, it is without doubt one of the top coastal locations in Northern Scotland.

In the early 1980’s, I watched a film which became of my favourites of all time – “Local Hero” and Achmelvich reminds me so much of the location used in this film. So, please forgive me, just for a few moments if I think of myself as Burt Lancaster strolling along this gorgeous beach and immersing myself in this jaw dropping beauty.

Any time of day in any kind of weather, Achmelvich is very special – there simply isn’t a bad time to be there.
