What Did You Enjoy About Your Workshop?: Dean is friendly, nicely informal, personable and immediately puts you at ease. He encourages and teaches with a gentleness that reflects his love of photography and wanting others to enjoy his passion and the Highlands as much as he does. Even when asking basic questions he always responded with good grace and encouraged me to ask more and learn. At no point did I feel inadequate or awkward because of my lack of understanding of landscape photography.

I am a reasonably experienced photographer but have little experience of landscapes. Dean recognised this immediately and tailored his time with me perfectly. I was therefore less concerned with wanting to know how my camera works and settings etc…but more interested in seeing how I reflect the environment and emotion in landscape photography. He delivered this in spades. We discussed composition at length and he spent considerable time sharing his experience and how he had learned when he started.

I was delighted when he occasionally took his own pictures and I had the opportunity to see how his interpretation of a scene might differ from mine. This was very informative, particularly how he perceived the nuances of changing light on the landscape which I often missed. His focus was however always on me getting the most out of the time I had with him.

What, If Anything, Would You suggest I Do To Improve the Workshop?: The pasties in the Co-op were disgusting

What Further Comments Would You Like To Make About Your Workshop?: The other couple who were supposed to be on the workshop had to drop out for personal reasons. I did wonder if this might spoil the experience or if Dean might feel it was too much effort to do it all for just one attendee.

At no point did I feel this was the case. Dean put his heart into ensuring I had as good a workshop…in fact I felt very privileged to have had several days of personal one to one photography tuition.

Would You Recommend my workshops to others?: It did not surprise me to learn how many people return for Dean’s workshops. I have had an excellent time and I also intend to return later in the year. I would recommend Dean unreservedly.
