Photo of Coilleag a Phrionnsa Beach, Eriskay - Fine Art Prints

Coilleag a Phrionnsa Beach is probably better known as Prince Charlie’s Beach, for it was here that Prince Charles Edward Stuart – Bonnie Prince Charlie met landfall in his quest to regain the British throne on behalf of his exiled father, James Stuart.

However, after his defeat at the Battle of Culloden in April 1746, Bonnie Prince Charlie fled back to France.

My visit, was however, a gentler experience. Wondering along this beautiful stretch of beach, I wanted to photograph this rock structure whilst showing the beautiful skyline of the islands in the distance. By slowing the sky and water down, a sense of calm prevailed in contrast to the tumultuous times in 1745.

If you’re in the area, be sure to take a stroll along Prince Charlie’s Beach and admire the stunning scenery for yourself.
